Cancer Killer:Pomegranate

The Pomegranate (Punica granatum) is a fruit-bearing deciduous shrub or small tree growing to 5–8 m tall. The pomegranate is native to the region from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran to the Himalayas in northern India and has been cultivated and naturalized over the whole Mediterranean region and the Caucasus since ancient times. It is widely cultivated throughout Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, India, the drier parts of southeast Asia, Peninsular Malaysia, the East Indies, and tropical Africa. Introduced into Latin America and California by Spanish settlers in 1769, pomegranate is now cultivated mainly in the drier parts of California and Arizona for its fruits exploited commercially as juice products gaining in popularity since 2001. In the global functional food industry, pomegranate is included among a novel category of exotic plant sources called superfruits.

In the Northern Hemisphere, the fruit is typically in season from September to January. In the Southern hemisphere, it is in season from March to May.

Cancer Killer: Noni

Morinda citrifolia, commonly known as Great morinda, Indian mulberry, Beach mulberry, Tahitian Noni, or since recently: Noni (from Hawaiian), Nono (in Tahitian), Mengkudu (from Malay), Nonu (in Tongan), and Ach (in Hindi), is a shrub or small tree in the family Rubiaceae. Morinda citrifolia is native to Southeast Asia but has been extensively spread by man throughout India and into the Pacific islands as far as the islands of French Polynesia, of which Tahiti is the most prominent. It can also be found in parts of the West Indies.

Noni grows in shady forests as well as on open rocky or sandy shores. It reaches maturity in about 18 months and then yields between 4-8 kg of fruit every month throughout the year. It is tolerant of saline soils, drought conditions, and secondary soils. It is therefore found in a wide variety of habitats: volcanic terrains, lava-strewn coasts, and clearings or limestone outcrops. It can grow up to 9 m tall, and has large, simple, dark green, shiny and deeply veined leaves.

The plant flowers and fruits all year round and produces a small white flower. The fruit is a multiple fruit that has a pungent odor when ripening, and is hence also known as cheese fruit or even vomit fruit. It is oval and reaches 4-7 cm in size. At first green, the fruit turns yellow then almost white as it ripens. It contains many seeds. It is sometimes called starvation fruit. Despite its strong smell and bitter taste, the fruit is nevertheless eaten as a famine food and, in some Pacific islands, even a staple food, either raw or cooked. Southeast Asians and Australian Aborigines consume the fruit raw with salt or cook it with curry. The seeds are edible when roasted.

The noni is especially attractive to weaver ants, which make nests out of the leaves of the tree. These ants protect the plant from some plant-parasitic insects. The smell of the fruit also attracts fruit bats, which aid in dispersing the seeds.

Success Stories: Fred's Story

Success Stories: Fred's Story: "Frank was one of your original hippies. His address was Ogilvie, MN. He lived in a trailer house and owned a sawmill. You'd see him in town once or twice a year. He kept to himself and his small family. He lived in the woods. People all knew of him. He was a considered a character. He thought dog biscuits were the healthiest food ever invented. He liked to drink a little, never had that much money, but you never heard him complain. He never went to a doctor, except when he was really really sick, which was just once in the early fifties. Frank was in his forties. He went to the doctor with a terrible stomach ache. It turned out to be cancer. His doctor wanted to do surgery to find out how far it had gone. Two weeks after his first appointment in years with a physician, Frank had surgery. When his doctor visited him after the surgery, he explained to Frank that it took him two hours just to close him up. He had stomach cancer that had taken off, was everywhere, he was afraid to touch it for fear of spreading it further and faster. He told him to go home and get his things together. "

More Blueberries

My Story:: "When I was twelve years old my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a mastectomy and chemotherapy she beat the disease and was cancer-free for eight and a half years. She had a recurrence of the same breast cancer that metastasized in her brain, lungs, liver, kidney and intestine. Through out her second round of treatment everything seemed to be the same to me; the same doctors, the same hospital the same chemo and the same results. One thing stuck out in my mind though as very different: there was always an abundance of blueberries in our refrigerator."

A mixed fruit punch could provide a devastating blow against prostate cancer.
The blueberry, grape, raspberry and elderberry cordial rapidly slashes the size of prostate tumours, research shows.

In tests, Blueberry Punch cut the size of tumours by a quarter in two weeks.

Trials are now planned to see whether a daily glass or two of the drink could treat the disease and even prevent it developing in the first place.
